Petro-Habitat™
PetroHab's full-featured pressurized welding enclosure for high-risk industrial environments.
Full-Featured Habitat for High-Risk Environments
The Petro-Habitat™ is a pressurized welding enclosure — often referred to in the oil & gas industry as a habitat or Hot Work Safety Enclosure (HWSE). It is used to manage and control risks associated with performing hot work operations in potentially hazardous areas. The main objective is to isolate ignition sources generated from hot work operations taking place inside the HWSE, protecting against ignition from potentially flammable gases that may exist outside. It protects both personnel and assets inside and outside the enclosure. A standard 2-meter x 2-meter x 2-meter Petro-Habitat™ can be assembled and fully pressurized in as little as 30 minutes.
Key Features
Quadra-Lock® Panel Interlocking Technology
PetroHab's patented Quadra-Lock® system (US Patent Nos. 9,545,775 and 9,517,609) allows panels to be affixed in virtually limitless configurations quickly, providing great shear and tensile strength — no zippers required.
ANSI/FM 4950 Certified Panels
Heavy-duty silver/gray premium silicone coated fiberglass fabrics certified to ANSI/FM 4950 — capable of withstanding continuous temperatures of 1,000°F (over 500°C).
Pneumatic Air Supply & Pressurization
Intrinsically safe pneumatic air supply and exhaust blowers pressurize the HWSE initially and maintain positive pressure by continuously introducing fresh air at a higher rate than air is extracted.
Pressure-Monitored Door
Framed heavy-duty door made of marine-grade aluminum (or soft door option), each with an integrated window and pressure monitor/manometer for visual confirmation of pressure inside the HWSE.
Window & Intrusion/Protrusion Panels
Window panels provide visibility and additional light. Specialized intrusion/protrusion panels allow objects such as pipes or structural metals to pass through the HWSE so hot work can be safely performed on them inside.
Safe-Stop Safety Shutdown System
Integrated Certified Safety Shutdown System (SSS) continuously monitors pressure and gas levels, shutting down hot work operations instantly if unsafe conditions are detected.
